UEx Participates in the XXX CRUE R&I Conference Through the MAS_UEx Project in Europe

From 13 to 15 November 2024, the MAS_UEx Project in Europe participated in the XXX CRUE R&I Sectorial Conference held at the Cuenca campus of the University of Castilla-La Mancha. This event brought together prominent leaders in scientific policy and research management from Spanish universities, aiming to foster knowledge transfer and internationalisation.

On 13 November, as part of the RedOE network, a session on promotional activities at European Project Offices (OPEs) was presented. The session showcased the results of a survey conducted among researchers and managers from a broad representation of universities across Spain, highlighting the importance of these offices in promoting and managing international projects.

This was followed by a roundtable discussion on “Personnel Costs in Horizon Europe”, addressing critical issues related to European project funding and the significance of personnel costs in managing EU-funded research projects. The day continued with a presentation on the facilitating and inhibiting factors influencing participation in Horizon Europe.

Additionally, discussions were held on the recognition and career development of R&I managers, a key aspect for enhancing the research environment in universities.

On 14 November, key topics such as the reform of research evaluation in Spain and the evolution of Horizon Europe were addressed, with contributions from experts from FECYT, CDTI, and other sector representatives. Roundtables and panels on technology for research and private funding opportunities were also highlights of the day.

On 15 November, the day began with a presentation on collaboration opportunities with the universities of the Young Academy of Spain. This was followed by a panel on “Transformative Agreements,” which discussed negotiations with publishers and the behaviour of universities regarding APCs. The day continued with a roundtable celebrating the 30 years of the CRUE R&I Sectorial, followed by the sectorial assembly and the closing ceremony, focusing on technology for research and its management.

Participation in this conference reaffirms the MAS_UEx Project in Europe’s commitment to internationalisation and advancing research at the University of Extremadura, strengthening its role in international collaboration and the development of European projects.
