UEx Participation in Urban Food Strategies in Europe

As part of the MAS_UEx project in Europe, researchers from the University of Extremadura (UEx) participated in the workshop “Urban Food Strategies in Europe,” held in Brussels on 4 December 2024. This activity reinforces the MAS_UEx project’s commitment to positioning itself within European research, consolidating its presence in key international forums.

Organised in collaboration with the ERRIN network (European Regions Research and Innovation Network), the event brought together experts from various European institutions to discuss innovative strategies for sustainable urban food systems. Throughout the day, participants explored initiatives and success stories addressing current challenges in sustainability, food security, and the circular economy in urban environments.

Workshop Highlights

  • Urban Food Strategies: European projects integrating innovative solutions for the sustainable production and distribution of food in cities.
  • Regional Collaboration: Promoting synergies between universities, public administrations, and private sectors to develop effective food policies.
  • Circular Economy: Presentation of practical measures to reduce food waste and promote efficient and responsible models.

The participation of UEx researchers in this workshop represents an important milestone within the MAS_UEx project in Europe, fostering international cooperation and the development of joint initiatives in the field of food sustainability.
